For others, the 997 GT3 RS remains the last truly raw and unfiltered 911 RS. Among them, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 stands out as the ultimate expression of Porsche’s motorsport pedigree. Limited to just 600 units, this special edition marked the end of the 997 era, featuring the largest naturally aspirated flat-six ever fitted to a 911 by the factory. As the 911 grew significantly with the 991 and 992 generations, these GT3 RS 4.0s have skyrocketed in value, widely regarded as the high point of Porsche’s driver-focused philosophy before transitioning toward grand touring characteristics.
